CO

CO (Carbon Monoxide) is a highly toxic, colorless, and odorless gas. This gas is produced by the incomplete combustion of carbon-based fuels, typically found in vehicle exhaust, faulty furnaces, and fires. Expressed in ppm (parts per million), CO is a lethal pollutant because it readily binds to hemoglobin in the blood, displacing oxygen. This leads to poisoning, which can result in fatigue, dizziness, and even death at high concentrations. Monitoring CO is critically important, especially in enclosed environments (such as tunnels or garages) and dense urban areas, making it a fundamental safety and air quality indicator in emissions management and public health.
