O3

Ozone (O3) is a gas molecule composed of three oxygen atoms. In the atmosphere, Ozone serves two distinct roles: in the upper stratosphere, it is a protective shield absorbing harmful UV radiation; however, at ground level (the troposphere), it is a harmful secondary pollutant. Ground-level Ozone is formed when other pollutants (NOx dan Volatile Organic Compounds) react under sunlight. Expressed in ppm or ppb, elevated O3 levels can cause eye irritation, lung tissue damage, and reduced plant function. Monitoring O3 is crucial because it is a key component of smog and an essential air quality indicator that determines the severity of public health risks, particularly on bright, warm days.
