PM10

PM10 (Particulate Matter 10) refers to solid or liquid particles in the air that have a diameter of 10 micrometers or less. Although larger than PM2.5, these particles are still small enough to be inhaled and can reach the upper parts of the respiratory tract. Expressed in µg/m3, PM10 typically consists of dust from construction sites, pollen, spores, and industrial activity particles. Elevated PM10 levels are frequently associated with eye, nose, and throat irritation, and can aggravate respiratory conditions such as asthma. Measuring PM10 is mandatory in global air quality monitoring programs as it represents a significant fraction of air pollution that potentially affects both public health and visibility in urban areas.
